David is an experienced insurance executive with over 20 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance fields. His impeccable credentials include Fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS), Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) and Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA). David began his career as an analyst at Insurance Service Office (ISO), followed by the role of Assistant Vice President and Chief Actuary Mid-Atlantic Group at WR Berkley Group. In 2001, David began a career in Reinsurance joining XL Reinsurance America as Assistant Vice President. In 2002, David expanded his expertise in the reinsurance arena by joining ACE Tempest RE as Chief Actuary and Senior Vice President in Bermuda. Most recently, David was the Executive Director of Global Property Underwriting and Chief Actuary for Flagstone Reassurance Suisse SA.
Steven was promoted to Safepoint’s Chief Financial Officer in June 2019 after serving as Controller from June 2014 to May 2019. Steven is a Certified Public Accountant and began his career in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers. After holding the position of Revenue Manager for a software company in New York City, Mr. Hoffman moved to Florida in 2007 where he worked for MetLife on the Sarbanes-Oxley team responsible for the design, implementation, and compliance of the company’s internal control over financial reporting. Previous to SafePoint he spent 4 years as the Assistant Controller of HCI Group, a publicly traded property and casualty insurance company located in Tampa.
Gus started his Insurance career at a Miami Based Managing General Agency specializing in Personal and Commercial lines products. In 1983 he joined National Insurance Company and was tasked with setting up regional offices for the company in Florida.
In 1993 he Joined AIB Financial Group & Union American Insurance Company as Vice President of Residual Lines. He was tasked with launching and expanding the FRPCJUA/Citizens divisions. He also established Union American Insurance Company as a servicing carrier for the Auto JUA. In 2002 he was promoted to Vice President and Chief Operations Officer.
Gus has served on the Board of Directors of Florida Windstorm Underwriting Association and was Chairman of the Florida Automobile Joint Underwriting Association.
In 2003 Gus join the MacNeill Group as Vice President and was tasked with launching, developing and managing Underwriting and Customer Service operations for multiple Florida start-up companies. While at MacNeill, Gus helped launch Safepoint Insurance Company in 2014. He joined Safepoint as Director of Underwriting in 2015.
Jennifer Cotugno is the Chief Claims Officer for SafePoint Insurance and is responsible for all aspects of the company’s claims functions. Jennifer has been practicing law since 2007 and has gained extensive knowledge in the area of property & casualty insurance through her experience as a trial lawyer. Ms. Cotugno joined SafePoint in November of 2016 and most recently served as Corporate Counsel prior to taking on her current role.
